MetroPark Community Sports Charitable Trust brings together representatives with deep community, sporting, governance and professional experience.

Our Trust

The Trust supports the long-term development of community-focused sports and recreation infrastructure at Metro Park. Our trustees represent local sporting organisations and community interests, with a shared commitment to accessible facilities, participation and sustainable planning.

Jeff Olufson

Jeff Olufson

Trustee and Chairman • Hibiscus Coast Cricket Club representative

Jeff Olufson represents the Hibiscus Coast Cricket Club, of which he is a life member. A founding Trustee of MCSCT, Jeff's involvement with Metro Park dates back to 2013.

He brings decades of community sport experience to the Trust and has a long record of service across the Hibiscus Coast, contributing to club development, youth participation and collaborative facility planning.

Jeff is committed to strengthening local sport through sound governance, strategic investment and accessible opportunities for families across the region.

Ray Finch

Ray Finch

Trustee • Hibiscus Hockey representative

Ray Finch took over Hibiscus Hockey's representation on the Trust on 25 November 2024.

Ray is the CEO of Laura Fergusson Trust. With a Masters in Health Sciences and a strong sports injury and clinical background, he has worked in high performance sport with international cricket and hockey teams before immigrating to New Zealand in 2015.

Since arriving in New Zealand, Ray has led disability charities and has become a passionate advocate for upholding the rights of disabled people. He brings senior leadership experience, inclusive thinking and a strong love of sport and community to the Trust.

Scott Beard

Trustee • Hibiscus Football representative

Scott has been involved in football as a player, coach and administrator for more than 50 years. He was President of HBCAFC for 12 years and has been a trustee of MCSCT since its inception.

His passion is to see children involved in sport, any sport, and to support opportunities that help young people participate, belong and grow through community recreation.

Leon Smith

Leon Smith

Trustee • Hibiscus Coast Softball representative

Leon Smith represents the Hibiscus Coast Softball Club Inc, having served the club as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. He is now a committee member and acting Treasurer.

Leon has been involved with Metro Park planning and working group discussions since 16 October 2017 and became a trustee on 10 October 2024. His appointment followed Hibiscus Coast Softball Club's unanimous vote to support the Trust and its vision for community sporting infrastructure.

Professionally, Leon is the owner and director of Zettabit Ltd, an IT consultancy company of more than 15 years. He brings project delivery, governance, technology, planning and communication experience to the Trust.

Leon is passionate about grassroots sport and has contributed to local sporting organisations on the Coast.

Dan Bungard

Dan Bungard

Trustee • Coast Basketball representative

Dan Bungard became a trustee on 10 October 2024 and represents Coast Basketball, where he serves as Director of Basketball.

A passionate advocate for youth sport and community development, Dan is committed to creating opportunities for young people on the Hibiscus Coast through participation, coaching and player development.

Dan believes sport plays a critical role in helping young people develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills. Through Coast Basketball, he has focused on building strong foundations that enable young athletes to grow both on and off the court while creating pathways for future success.

A strong supporter of the Hibiscus Coast community, Dan is passionate about ensuring local sporting organisations have access to quality facilities and opportunities that benefit future generations. His involvement with the MetroPark Community Sports Charitable Trust reflects his commitment to long-term community infrastructure that supports participation across multiple sporting codes.
